FAQ

  • While we have a great relationship with the Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, we are not affiliated with them. We do on occasion collaborate with them, but they are just our wonderful landlords. We feel fortunate to be in this building.

  • We realize that every child is different and reaches milestones at different paces. So why should Potty Training be any different? Your child does not need to be potty trained to move to any of our classrooms.

  • Anything that your child would need, bring it. We don’t supply bottles, formula, diapers, wipes, diaper ointments, sunscreen, or any type of medicine. Be sure to send in a blanket and a special soft toy for them to snuggle up with during nap time.

  • We are closed on the following holidays:

    • Martin Luther King Day

    • Presidents Day

    • Good Friday

    • Easter Monday

    • Memorial Day

    • July 4th

    • Labor Day

    • Thanksgiving & the day after Thanksgiving

    • Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day

Sometimes depending on how a holiday lands we might take the day before or after any holiday! We always give plenty of notice of when we will be closed except of course in the event of an emergency.

  • In the event of inclement weather or other emergencies, every effort will be made to keep the Center open. If the Center must close, we can notify you through email and text via our ProCare App. In addition, an announcement will be made, specific to our Center’s location, on KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI. If an emergency closure happens during the day, you will be reached through our ProCare App and you will be expected to plan for your child to be picked up in a timely fashion.

  • We know it is hard to be away from your child each day. While you’re at work, your child is learning and having fun with their friends. Our staff will take pictures to send you, and send notes and pictures through the ProCare App. Once you are enrolled, you will be sent an email invitation to download the app.

  • Funding is available from the county through the Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC 5). For more information click the link in the Resources section to the right.

Health & Safety

Health and safety is all about prevention. We prioritize keeping those in our care not only healthy but also safe.

Hygiene and Safety Protocols

We focus on proper handwashing procedures for your child and our staff before and after meals, after playing outside, and always after diaper changes or bathroom use. We clean and disinfect throughout the day and always at the end of the day. We monitor the staff’s and children’s health by following our healthcare policies. Daily inspection of the site and equipment helps us eliminate hazards for your child’s protection.

Mandated Reporter and Recognizing Child Abuse Training

As mandated reporters all childcare staff who have direct or indirect contact with children must take a 3-hour course in recognizing physical, sexual, mental, and verbal abuse and neglect. In addition, the course covers procedures for reporting abuse to Child Line Agency who then will investigate the validity of the report.

The children are safe in our secure building, which can only be accessed by a staff member using a security fob. While we have an open-door policy for parents of enrolled children, everyone is received by a staff member at the door. Any other visitors are by appointment only and are greeted at the door and escorted through the facility. This also includes any service workers who may be working in the facility. Additionally, all staff are trained in the particulars of our site-specific security measures.

Secure Environment

Our staff are all trained and certified in First Aid and CPR conducted every 2 years. Annually we are trained in fire safety and all other emergency protocols. We have a close working relationship with our local fire department and police department, and they help facilitate our emergency management training.
